Kathmandu Capitol Church (KCC) holds their meetings on Saturdays, as Sundays in Nepal are regular working days. The people that comprise KCC are overtly passionate; passionate in their love for Jesus, passionate in worship, and passionate about people.
The people of KCC truly demonstrate living life together.
There are profound challenges in everyday life in Nepal that perhaps being where we're from, we will never know. It is both humbling and a privilege to be amongst people who's joy and passion for Jesus is not influenced by outward circumstances, difficult and real as they may be. These are people who have "tasted and seen"; they have faith enough to press in and charge ahead in spite of circumstances.
They welcomed us as family; you can only go a few short steps before having your hand shook or being hugged Even some of the tiniest children put their chubby little hands together as though in prayer to signify that they are greeting you with "namaste."
The concept of "family" comes to life in this place. The old and young intermingle; age is not a boundary to friendship, and there are no cliques. It's a collective effort to cook a meal on Saturdays in which everyone partakes, and the whole family huddled under shared umbrellas as the rain poured down to celebrate the multiple baptisms that occurred long after the meeting was over.
